Daniel Romann Obituary

Daniel "Danny" Dale Romann died Aug. 5, 2009, at Providence Extended Care in Anchorage with his beloved wife, Deb, at his side after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 49. As he requested, no service will be held. Danny was born May 25, 1960, in Waukegan, Ill., to Dale Romann and Donna (Dawson) Romann. He graduated from high school in 1978 and started working at Wipaire, an aircraft float manufacturer in Inver Grove Heights, Minn. He continued to work there until 1989, when he and his wife, Deb, took to the Alaska Highway en route to the largest seaplane base in the world -- Lake Hood. Dan and Deb worked together side by side as Alaskan float crafters at Lake Hood until he became too ill to work. They were absolutely inseparable, whether at work or play. If you saw one, you knew the other wasn't far away. Along the way, they had three beautiful daughters, Desiree "Desi," Dawn "Buffy" and Daryen "Dewy," whom they brought to work with them every day from the time they were born until the oldest became a teenager. The family said: "We have always been an extremely tight knit family and Danny will be missed more than words can say. Though our lives will never be the same, he will be eternally in our hearts. We will cherish our memories with him until we are together again." The greatest love in Danny's life was his "four girls"; they meant the world to him and he to them. He also enjoyed barbecuing, smoking fish, cookbooks, the Food Network channel, a good laugh, movies and good, old fashioned relaxation. He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Romann. Danny is survived by his wife and best friend, Debra Romann; daughters, Desiree, Dawn and Daryen Romann, all of Anchorage; father, Dale Romann and wife, Joan, of Minnesota; sisters, Deborah and Jim Clark of Minnesota and Diane Archer of Arizona; many nieces, nephews and extended family from Minnesota; and many, many friends. Arrangements are with Kehl's Legacy Funeral Home and Crematory: www.legacyalaska.com.

Deb, Desiree, Dawn, and Daryen.
I was really sorry to hear about Danny, your best friend, and Dad. I went by the shop tonight, not knowing. I will really miss Danny's smile, easy going ways, and expert skills. Life at times seems so unfair, and the trail is often very long and hard. Any words I say really can't fill the empty feeling and space that Danny has left for you. Please accept my deepest sympathies.

Danny you will really be missed. Thank you for being part of my life.
