David Inglis Obituary

Lifelong Alaskan and Nikiski resident David R. Inglis, 54, died June 12, 2008, with his family by his side at Central Peninsula Hospital from complications of multiple sclerosis.
A celebration of his life will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at his home, 50040 Forest Glen in Nikiski. Those attending are asked to bring a dish for the celebration. His ashes will be scattered at a later date in Resurrection Bay.
Dave was born Dec. 6, 1953, in Seward, where he lived until 1964, when his family moved to Anchorage. He received his GED so he would be able to serve in the U.S. Navy. On Jan. 15, 1971, he enlisted, serving until his honorable discharge on Jan. 24, 1973. He worked for Qwick Construction during the 1980s and '90s, holding various positions. He also worked in the Dutch Harbor Pulp Mill. In 1994-95, he worked at the Healy Coal Mine. In 1996, he was diagnosed with MS and was unable to continue working.
Dave enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, camping, gardening, crafting homemade furniture, berry picking, canning and smoking fish, and reading.
"Dad loved nothing more than to spend time with his family and friends, cooking something special for them. Dad always took pride in his home and his belongings but was always willing to share with family or friends in need. One of his biggest joys in life was having his grandchildren over to his house and sending them home with treats. He loved his daughters more than anything and would always do everything he could for them. We will miss his sense of humor and bright blue eyes. He will be greatly missed, always remembered and loved," his family said.
Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Jean Inglis, and stepson, Joseph Denison.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Alaina and Justin Linebarger of Soldotna, and Holly and Dave Hernandez of Kenai; stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Marc and Kristine Denison of Sterling; father, Robert A. Inglis of St. Helens, Ore.; granddaughters, Mariah Hernandez of Kenai, and Ashley Gerola and Victoria Denison of Sterling; grandson, Lil' Joe Denison of Sterling; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Sue Inglis of Fairbanks; sisters and brother-in-law, Laurel Frison of Soldotna, Linda and Larry Schnell of St. Helens, and Elaine Hill of Anchorage; nephews and nieces, Corey and John Inglis of Fairbanks, Heather and Travis Frison of Soldotna, Brent and Austin Schnell of St. Helens, and Andrea and Jessica Hill of Anchorage; and other relatives.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.

I have cherished Dave's friendship for as long as I can remember. Our families lived in Seward together and moved to Anchorage the same year. We shared the adventures of youth in Alaska, California and Hawaii. I love his family and think of them as my own.

I will treasure your memory always, my friend and I thank God you are finally free of pain. I look forward to the day we will meet again...

For those who grieve David's passing, I share a tear with you. David's mother was one of my best friends in Seward and I remember him as a young tow-headed toddler playing with my children. For you who miss him, take comfort in the fine man and father he turned out to be.
