Thank you to everyone for your kind words over the past year. Thank you also to the Tope family for helping to provide for this online guest book. I have really enjoyed reading your stories and memories of my dad. I miss him a lot and know he's up there waiting to see us again. I remember when we would fly the Stinson on floats and I would have to sit on a phone book to see out the window. Or motoring the Tom Cat out from the Port of Anchorage. Building hovercrafts in his garage or working on his hot rod. Such a hard worker with a gift for tinkering and problem solving. So fortunate to have him in our lives. So lucky to know that he helped so many people in his life. Thank you Pop for teaching me the greatest lesson to give so freely of yourself in the service of others. God bless you!

Dave was larger than life! We met & interacted at Alaska Airlines in maintenance. Dave worked the storeroom & I was avionics. He had lots of Alaskan stories & was always involved in some new exciting project. We both flew maintained our own planes, I was always trying to talk Dave into obtaining a A& P license & work as a Alaska mechanic. The retired guys met & talked & I never tired of Dave & his enthusiasm. I miss you!

David was a good friend of Jim, Gary and Ernie Rude with whom he stayed after the 1964 earthquake. The Rayfield home was frightening close to where the land of Earthquake park fell away. It is sad to know Jim is the only survivor of this group of friends. My condolences, Dave.

It is eternity now. I am in the midst of it. It is about me in the sunshine; I am in it, as the butterfly in the light-laden air. Nothing has to come; it is now. Now is eternity; now is the immortal life. – RICHARD JEFFERIES

Rest in peace, Dave.

Dave was a dear friend of my dad, Gene Cecil, who had the Bait Shack @ Ship Creek. Dave was one of the "regulars" and was always tons of fun to have around. Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your dear David. May the Lord watch over and comfort you during your time of grief. And thanks to you, Dot (and Dave)for always being so kind to my dad.

What I liked most about Dave was his big smile, his charming personality and his happy demeanor and how he would offer to help others and be a "fix-it Dave".

I knew Dave in the 60's and 70'. Worked with him at my first job, admired him for owning and operating his own business later. He was a wonderful person, honest and good hearted. Haven't seen him in years, wish I had kept in touch.
My deepest condolences to his family.
Rest in Peace, Dave.
