Dolla Kochutin Obituary

St. Paul Island resident Dolla, 70, died peacefully on January 2, 2012 at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. A service will be held Thursday at the Evergreen Memorial in Anchorage prior to final services at the Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church in St. Paul Island, Alaska.

Mrs. Kochutin was born March 11, 1941, in St. Paul Island, Alaska, to George and Ifrosenia Rukovishnikoff.

She lived primarily on St. Paul Island and briefly in Funter Bay, Alaska as an Aleut Intern. She also resided in Palmer, Alaska.

Her family writes, "Dolla had a wonderful sense of humor. She always had a smile to pass and a warm and generous heart. She had a nickname for nearly everyone she knew. Each day she would pray for someone in need. She leaves a great void in our lives and she will be missed dearly."

Dolla enjoyed playing cards with company over a cup of coffee. She was a big fan of the L.A. Lakers and the Atlanta Braves. She also enjoyed performing the songs and dances she would compose for her grandchildren. She found pleasure in crosswords, reading and computer games.

She is survived by daughters Jacqueline Bourdukofsky, Barbara Lestenkof, and Donna Lestenkof; sons Jacob and Adam Kochutin; grandchildren Leilani and Breanna Lestenkof, Cassondra and Janessa Bourdukofsky, Shauna, Emanuel, Kyna and Todd Kochutin, Alexay and Diamond Lestenkof, and Miron Kochergin; great grandson Nathan Bourdukofsky; brother Metrofan Rukovishnikoff; sisters Feofanya Galanin and Georgia Paulus; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Kochutin was preceded in death by her loving husband Jacob Sr.; daughter Deanna, grandchildren Dwayne Olsen and Ayla Kochutin; and brothers Andrew, George and Gabriel Rukovishnikoff Sr..

Dolla and Jacob and their daughter Deanna were the first people I met when I moved to Alaska in 1988. They didn't treat me as an outsider. Dolla had a bubbly personality and was a special lady. She is now with those who passed on before her... My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends she left behind.
