Douglas Oglesbee Obituary

Douglas Wade Oglesbee, 51, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, of natural causes in Spokane, Wash.

A memorial service was held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Missoula, Mont.

Doug was born Nov. 24, 1958, to James and Jennette Oglesbee in Billings, Mont. He grew up in Missoula, Mont. Doug was very athletic, setting records in pole vaulting in high school. He was also an expert water and downhill snow skier and bowler.

As a young man, Doug worked in the oil fields, as did his father, uncles and brother. He continued to work for most of his life in the oil fields as a drilling fluids engineer (extraordinaire) and company man. His work took him all over the world, but he always said Alaska was the best place to work.

Doug married Seane Rebecca Gilbert on March 21, 1987, in Great Falls, Mont. During their marriage they lived in Alaska, Idaho, Montana and Arizona (too hot). Doug and Seane settled in Alaska to raise their family, but Montana was always their home.

Doug loved to fish, hunt, camp, golf and play the stock market. He was very mechanically inclined, and an excellent cook. Doug was an idea man, innovative and theatrical in all he did. He was generous to friends and strangers alike. We will miss his over-the-top presence.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, James; mother, Jennette; stepfather, Jim Lackman; and son, Alex.

He is survived by Seane, his wife of 22 years; daughters, Jessica and Hailey; and son, James, all of Soldotna; daughter Tiffany of Lufkin, Texas; his brother, Jim Oglesbee (Karen); sisters, Linda Ray (Ken) and Tracie Kovacich (Greg); nieces, Misty, Kelly, Aleshia, Michelle and Kristen; nephew, Clifford; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

This is Christy Dodson in Missoula, Montana. I was part of Doug's familly when he grew up here though we have lost touch. I dreamed of
Doug not long ago. "We are such stuff as dreams are made on."
There is no parting. My husband Bob Kearney and I send all our love

Seane, although it has been years since we have seen each other, I was truly saddened to see Doug's passing. My heart goes out to you and your children.
Don't cry because he is gone, smile that you had a wonderful life together and those memories will hold the love forever in your heart.

Seane and family - I am so sad to hear of Doug's passing. I so enjoyed working with him all those years at Schlumberger. My thoughts and prayers are with you. May the light and life you shared stay with you for the rest of your days.

My Thoughts and prayers go out to all of Doug's family.
Doug and I had great times together, a warm heart and would do anything for anybody. And always that great smile. We lived together a couple of years when we both worked on the Slope, before we both got married. I will miss him alot
