Ed Fayette Obituary

Ed Francis Fayette Jr., 74, passed away peacefully at home in Shoreline, Wash., on Nov. 4, 2018, having spent his final hours with his seven children, and with his love, Cheryl.
Ed was born in Blaine, Wash., to the late Ed Fayette Sr. and Marion Collver. He graduated from Blaine High School and, in1963, joined the Coast Guard. In 1972, he moved his family to Alaska, where he began a lifelong career maintaining the Anchorage telecom network. He graduated with a degree in sociology from University of Alaska. After retirement, he spent his days between Alaska and Washington state.
Ed is survived by his mother, Marion Fayette; sister, Mitzi and Bruce Freeman; brother, Dana and Valerie Fayette; and brother, Pete Fayette; his partner, Cheryl Pettersen; and her son, Jason and Karena Stockinger; and son, Peter and Shelly Pettersen; his seven children, including his daughter, Kirsten and Larry Ryan; daughter, Rebecca and Bryan Wyllie; daughter, Jennifer Fayette; daughter, Noelle and Donnie Umbarger; son, Ed and Danielle Fayette; daughter, Amanda and Josh Smulski; and son, Blake Fayette; and his six nieces; 22 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Ed loved the outdoors and Alaska quickly became the place he called home. He loved to ski and is remembered mono-skiing in his cut-off jeans and straw hat, spring skiing at Alyeska. Ed loved science and technology, and his softer side showed with his compassion for animals. His favorite pastime was enjoying the cabin on Hat Island which he built with his good friend, Bruce.
The sparkle in his eyes, his smile and sharing of his own philosophical take on the world will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, it would honor Ed and his family if donations were made in Ed's name to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance at University of Washington Medicine's Northwest Hospital.
