Eugene Williams Obituary

Eugene L. Williams, 49, died May 31, 2010, at his home in Anchorage.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Legacy Funeral Homes, Kehl's Chapel, 11621 Old Seward Highway, with a service directly afterward. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Angelus Memorial Park Cemetery, 440 Klatt Road. The Rev. Robert Evans will officiate. Pallbearers will be Allen Lee, Glenn Newkirk, Lee Snelgrove, Andrew Snelgrove, Joseph Florio and Agim.

Eugene was born June 29, 1960, in Pittsburgh, Penn. He held an associate's degree and worked for Doyon after working on the North Slope for 30 years.

His family wrote: "Geno passed away in his sleep, leaving behind his wife of 24 years, Sheralyn, and their two boys, Myles and Malcolm. Geno enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his sons, who were his biggest joy. Geno enjoyed all sports, always cheering on his hometown team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Geno's passing leaves an empty place in everyone's heart, but he will live on in his family and friends who could count on Geno whenever they needed a hand"

Eugene is survived by his wife, Sheralyn; sons, Myles and Malcolm; mother, Myrna Williams; uncle, Allen Lee; brother, Rodney Williams; sister, Sandra Tarver; mother in law, Margret Newkirk; brothers in law, Lee Snelgrove, Glenn Newkirk, Joseph Florio, and Willie Tarver; sisters in law, Jennelle Dixson, Vickie Snelgrove, Melissa Larreau, and Eva Williams; nieces and nephews, Andrew Snelgrove, Jazmyne Dixson, Jasmine Reed, Joseph Snelgrove, Jonel Jackson, Jaelynn Newkirk, Zoe Williams, Josh, Aaron and TJ Tarver; and his North Slope family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Williams; sister in law, Wendy Florio and brother in law, Jaz Dixson.

Sherry, it's Kellie Torres! Victor told me about Gino and we were both so saddened by the news. Even though we lost touch with each other over the years, Victor and I would reminiss about all the fun times we all had together! Victor & Gino always continued to cross paths working on the slope. Gino was a loving, caring, funny, generous man who will be missed terribly by all whose lives he touched. May God bless and comfort you and your family through this difficult time. Our prayers will be with you always. We love you!
