Frances Vartanian Obituary

Frances Marie "Dolly" Vartanian (Miller, Rader), 67, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2016, at her daughter's residence in Anchorage, Alaska. Born Aug. 14, 1948, in Teller, Alaska, she was the daughter of the late Albert Alfred Miller and Helen Irene (Okbaok) Miller. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Laura Irene (Miller) Nelson and Gladys Miller; brother, David Miller; and unborn twins. Dolly received a two-year accounting degree at Alaska Junior College in Anchorage, and has worked in public service administration, clerical office and bookkeeping, and seamstress craftsmanship. Her later life was fulfilled as a self-employed seamstress sewing atigluq's, where her fine handiwork can be found all over the city. She also loved gardening, reading books and solving difficult crossword puzzles and word games. She would often say she has to exercise her "fine brain" for memory and reasoning thought processes. She spent her days caring for her home, beloved pet Mylie, family and friends. Dolly was deeply loved by her grandchildren, and she nurtured, taught and loved them without question. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses both West and Sand Lake Congregations. She believed in and loved Jehovah God and studied the bible. Dolly lived her life in humility, gratitude and grace. Her five month struggle with cancer never displaced her with the sunny side of life. She is survived by her brother, Albert "Al" Miller Jr.; and sister, Sara "Babe" Tweet (Miller). Dolly had four children, Ted Rader III, Yeghsapet Olganna Vartanian, Sose Vartanian and Tamar Vartanian; her grandchildren, Robert Lee Rader, Heather Renee Rader, Roupen Tavo Magonna Vartanian and Devyn Orion Mayuriaq Rivers; she had three great-grandchildren, Amaia, Elijah and Arlowe; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones. Expression of sympathy and tributes may be sent to the family at www.AlaskanFuneral.com. There will be no funeral nor formal service per her wishes. Graveside burial at Angelus Memorial Park was held on June 24, 2016, by Anchorage Funeral Home. Private family services will be held at a later date.
