Gary Davis Obituary


    Funeral services for Gary M. Davis, 21, were conducted by Pastor Steven Frock on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira. Interment was in the Exira Cemetery in Exira. Casket bearers were: Brock Knapp, Cory Fowble, Alec Walker, Janie Paulson, Molly Boylan, Kate Thompson, Jessica Thompson, and Steph Thompson. Honorary casket bearers were: Jenny Paulson, Stephen Clark, Sarah Minor, Sarah Madsen, Anne Jorgensen, Annie Black, Sam Muhr, Alex Minor, Tracy Paulsen, Cameron Chambers, Kasie Simpson, Amber Anderson, Angie Valasco, Jill Paulson, Reece Blohm, Robbie Joens, Tammy Paulson, Terri Thompson, Tessa Knutsen, Abby VanAernam, and Alex Buckner. The Kessler Funeral Home in Exira was in charge of the arrangements.
Gary Maverick Davis, the son of John Anthony and Tamara Ann Larsen Davis, was born Jan. 7, 1991, in Harlan, and died Jan. 19, 2012, in an automobile accident in Irwin, at the age of 21 years and 12 days.
     Gary was baptized at the Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic. He attended the Exira Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 2009. Gary was employed in the dietary department at the Exira Care Center in Exira. While working at the Exira Care Center he studied and became a Certified Nurses Aide. He worked as a CNA in Exira for several years then worked as a department manager at the Buckle in Carroll, for a short time. Gary has been working as a CNA at the Friendship Home in Audubon, for the past several months.
Gary loved life and enjoyed spending time with his many friends. He liked to travel especially to California and Florida. He enjoyed camping, boating, and catching and eating crawdads. He enjoyed helping people especially helping his grandmothers and spending time with his nephew Clay taking him shopping and just driving around.
Gary was preceded in death by his grandfathers: Benjamin Davis and Roger Olsen; his great grandparents Layland and Malinda Larsen; and his uncle Tom Montgomery.
Survivors include his parents: John A. Davis of Exira, and Tami and Roger Waters of Exira; his sister and brother: Elizabeth Larsen and fiancé Clay Perry, Sr. and Christopher Davis both of Exira; his nephew Clay Perry, Jr. of Exira; his grandmothers: Catherine Davis of Omaha, Neb., and Karen Olsen of Exira; his uncles: Mike and wife Shelley Davis of Exira and Matt Davis and Paula Riggs of Omaha; his great-aunts and great-uncle: Ron and wife Cindy Robson of Watkins, Colo., and Leanne Montgomery of Marne; his cousins: Charles and wife Shelly Davis of Bayard, Wyatt Davis and Randi Davis both of Coon Rapids, Trisha and husband Jim Bell, Sara Miner, Ashley Jensen, Alex Miner all of Atlantic, Jacob Riggs of Omaha, Tiffany and husband Travis Centry and their children Alec and Noah all of Bennet, Colo., Courtney and husband Phillip Unling and their children Kyle, Logan and Justin of Centennial, Colo., Ryan and wife Jessica Robson and their daughter Rylie of Yuma, Colo.,  Todd Montgomery and family all of Minnesota, Trent Montgomery and family of Minnesota, Trever Montgomery and family of Walnut; other relatives and many friends.
