I can't believe Hank's gone. We lost contact after I left Alaska, but I always loved being around him. Hank made me smile and laugh "always." He was a blessing to those of us who knew him. My deepest condolences to family and closest friends.

Dear Grinder family,

I was so saddened to hear of Hank's passing. I hope the family remembers Louise Martin . . . that's who this is. Hank and I were buds through primary, mutual and high school, and beyond. We had a lot of fun together . . . all of the gang back then. I remember Hank's mom and dad well. They were an inspiration in my life as well as all of the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you and this difficult time. I can imagine Hank meeting up with some of our old friends from bygone days like my sister Evelyn, friends Mickey and Charlie, who have passed on, too. Time passes and life changes for us all. Take care and may the good Lord bless and keep you.

My family doesn't participate in social networking, so I wanted to extend some well wishes from them (and myself) to the grinder family.

Losing a member of our church family is so difficult. The Grinders have been an amazing family since the day we first came to know them. Hank and Julie raised such warm and loving children with amazing talents and inner beauty. One could not know the Grinders without falling instantly in love with each and every one of them.

As you have lost a father, a husband, a brother, we have all too lost a friend. But he has gone to a better place, this we know, and our biggest sorrow is worrying over the rest of you left waiting to return to him.

Love you all. I hope you are able to find the greatest of comfort through our community, family and friends.

Love from the Holayter and Calkins families
