Herbert W. Randall Jr.

1952 - 2017

Herbert W. Randall Jr. was born on June 25, 1952, in Jackson, Miss., to Herbert Sr. and Bernice Randall.
Herbert is preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, Percy Groves; and sister, Rosie Mae Randall.
Known as Herb to family and friends, he spent his childhood and teenage years in Mississippi until his senior year in high school. Herb moved to Bridgeport, Conn., where he finished school, going on to college at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn., majoring in arts and science. Herb loved watching football and basketball. In 1973, Herb moved to Chicago, Ill., taking on various jobs working for the city of Chicago Streets and Sanitation Department. One job Herb really loved was working for the Mayor's Office Special Events Department, giving him the opportunity to meet different people, such as Barry White and others. Herb was a Precinct Captain in the 37th Ward.
Herb had an ear for music. He loved his jazz with a fine Cuban cigar and a glass of scotch to go with it.
On Sept. 29, 1991, Herb married Esther Randall. In 1994, Herb moved to Lexington, Miss. Wanting to be a cattleman, Herb purchased cattle. In June 2013, Herb moved to Anchorage, Alaska, with his older brother, Willie Charles Herb, and started working for Signal Security until he took ill.
On Nov. 27, 2017, Herb made his earthly departure, leaving to cherish his memories his daughter, Detyscha Farrell of Dallas, Ga.; grandsons, Shaheem Farrell of Pahokee, Fla., and Jervon Brandon of Dallas, Ga.; great-granddaughter, Genevieve Farrell of Pahokee, Fla.; sister, Lillian Carter of Chicago, Ill.; brothers, Willie Randall of Anchorage, Alaska, Edward Franklin of Anchorage, Alaska, and Lawrence Franklin of Atlanta, Ga.; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
