Howard Watson

Former resident Howard F. Watson died at his home in Pahrump, Nev., on Jan. 4, 2009, with his loving wife, Donna Sue, at his side, and his family and friends nearby. He was 78. Those who knew and love Howard are invited to attend his Memorial Ash Spreading Ceremony at 1 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Spruce Grove Memorial Park in Kasilof. Military honors in loving remembrance and honor will be performed by the VFW Post 10046 and the American Legion Post 20. After his ceremony, family and friends will meet at 2 p.m at Soldotna Creek Park in Soldotna, in celebration of Howard's life. Private services were held for Howard in Pahrump. Pahrump Elks Lodge No 2796 provided a Memorial Wake in honor of Howard's membership, work-contributions and his life. Howard was born Oct. 11, 1930, in Texas. Before moving to Pahrump, Howard and Donna Sue lived in Soldotna. Howard worked for BP Exploration as a machinist on the North Slope. He retired in 1992 and moved his family to Pahrump, where he and remained a resident for the last 16 years. His family wrote: "Always giving to his community, Howard was a 40-year member of the Elks Lodge, a Mason, a Moose Lodge member, an Am-Vet lifetime-member, a Lion's Club member, and an American Legion member. A veteran of the United States Air Force, Howard served our country in the Korean War. "Howard enjoyed wood-working, spending time outdoors, hard work and was a man of few words. But most of all, he was a very loving and dedicated friend, father, husband, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved his friends and family dearly. Howard's friends and family deeply love him and he is tremendously missed, more than words can express." Howard was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister, and son, Howard Jr. Howard is survived by his devoted wife of 20-years, Donna Sue, and his 1-year-old grandson, Nicholas, whom he and his wife were raising together at the time he passed. Howard is also survived by adult sons, Ryan and his wife, Tiffanee, of Nevada, James of California, Danny of Washington, Stan of Pennsylvania. and Tim of Alaska; daughter, Aubrey of California; grandson, Frank and his wife, Mary, of California, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and special family friends Travis and his wife, Mary Huggins, of Nevada.
