Jack Button Obituary

Jack Wayne Button Jr., age 56, passed away unexpectedly in Anchorage on August 17, 2011. Jack was born on July 13, 1955 in Snoqualmie, WA to Jack and Elaine Button. Jack Jr., fondly nicknamed "Beaver," moved from Snohomish to Winthrop, WA in the early 60's where he graduated from high school in 1974 and promptly moved to Alaska to begin his career in construction. Jack moved back to Washington a couple of times; for college and marriage to Lynn Gardner, but always answered "the call of the north". Jack's love for Alaska was second to his love for his two sons, Andy and Robin, both currently working in Fairbanks.

Jack was preceded in death by his mother Elaine Westman and his father Jack Button, Sr. Jack is survived by his two sons, Andy and Robin Button; stepfather Ken Westman of Winthrop, WA; sister Cindy (Les) Putman of Goldbar, WA; and twin sisters Candy (Dan) LaRoche of East Wenatchee, WA and Wendy (Don) Lundine of Omak, WA and numerous extended family members. If Jack could say one last thing, we think he would want to pass on this message: "laugh, dance, and grab the bull by the horns." A remembrance of his life will be held at the Islander Lodge at Big Lake, on Saturday August 27th at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Society or the Loup Loup Ski Education Foundation PO Box 768 Okanogan WA 98840.

As I read the entries posted about you Jack I recall some fond memories. I remember when you were just a little kid called Beaver that my brother Jim was best friends with. Flash forward to 1968 when I married your sister, you were the mischievous younger brother. Never mean, just fun-loving. I recall the time you wrecked your folks pick-up, the flying snomobiles, the fishing in the Methow. I watched you grow into a good man and father. You were a true patriot and we enjoyed talking politics, I will miss all of that and especially you're beaming smile.
