Jan A. Bennett

1952 - 2015

Our cherished friend and coworker, Jan Adrian Bennett, died suddenly of natural causes on Sept. 28, 2015, in her retirement home in Bullhead City, Ariz. She was 63 years old. Jan is survived by her brother, Craig Bennett and his wife, Karen of Boquete, Panama; and extended family and many friends throughout Alaska and the U.S. She was born in Portland, Ore., on Feb. 4, 1952. After college and getting out of the Navy in 1974, she worked for the Oregon State Parks. She then worked for the U.S. Forest Service and the Department of the Interior, based in Alaska, until she retired in 2012, after more than 30 years of service. She enjoyed playing softball, golf, watching football and visiting best friends, Renee and Michael Kilpatrick, and her godchildren, Cody and Nikki, every year in Florida. She was dedicated to her career and her godchildren. Jan was a unique individual who lived her life on her own terms. Her retirement was too short. We will all miss her and remember her fondly. Please join her friends to share memories and celebrate her life! A Memorial will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, starting at 4:30 p.m., at Piper's Lounge, 3450 Aviation Ave. in Anchorage, and will include a no host bar.
