I am so sorry to hear about Jim's passing. He was a delightful guy and a true gentleman. He was reliable and dependable, and a lot of fun. RIP Jim.

This photo was taken on a river near the Canadian border (maybe the Kandik) while picking up six smokejumpers that had been extinguishing a fire near.

Jim checked me out in 642 the turbine Goose coming from Nome to Fairbanks. we were up at 12000 just having a nice cruise when a can of WD40 blew up in the bow compartment filling the cockpit with oil. Checked all the gages and we were green, open the side windows to ventilate. We looked at each other and said what the hell? We didn't know what happen till we landed in Fairbanks two packs of cigarettes later. Also he got wrongly accused of pulling a engine on takeoff with 642 when I forgot to adjust trim for takeoff. It was a torque airplane without the extended vertical fin. Will always remember you and the grin . RIP Jim. Thanks for the lessons and your friendship. I'll never forget you grin.. Blue sky's
and a strong tailwind to you.

Rest in peace Pick. I have lots of memories of flying with you in the Grumman goose back in those old days of smokejumping. You were definitely one of the best.

Sad to hear of Jim's passing. He was a great pilot and wonderful person. I spent many enjoyable hours flying around Alaska in the Grumman Goose on BLM firefighting missions with him as pilot-in-command.
