Jonce Eccles

1944 - 2016

Jonce "JB" Burton Eccles Jr., 71, passed away at Alaska Premium Care Assisted Living Facility in Anchorage, Alaska, on Feb. 2, 2016. Even in his final days, he continued to smile and laugh, he never complained even up to the end. He spoke of his father often and had great memories of growing up on the family ranch. JB was born in Casper, Wyo., on Sept. 5, 1944, to Jonce and Bertha Ann Eccles. JB was a good father raising his four children; he enjoyed hunting and shooting with them along with golfing with his sons and making knives. He loved life and living on the Ranch. He enjoyed traveling and reading mystery crime novels. Whatever he set his mind to he was determined to do his best. He was an All-American Trapshooter and an extremely talented one at that, he won many Zone, Memorial and High Overall Championships and in 1985, he completed the Grand Slam which consisted of 200 targets in the Singles, 100 targets in Doubles and 100 targets in the Handicap from the 27 yard line. All of this landed him in the Wyoming Trapshooting Hall of Fame. JB was the owner of Eccles Construction Company, TCM, Inc. and was the President of Eccles Land and Livestock. "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." - Ralph Waldo Emerson Survivors include his sister, Vernena Lewis; nephew, Roc Gantt; niece, Ginger Marsh; daughters, Jill Painter and Amy McAllister; and stepsons, Joseph and Anthony Fiumara. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jonce B. Eccles Sr. and Bertha Ann Eccles; and his sister, Edna Mecham. A celebration of life will be held in Wyoming later this year.
