Joshua Okpik Obituary

Joshua Dean Kaveolook Okpik was born on May 19, 1970 in Anchorage, Alaska. He passed on Jan. 4, 2019, at the age of 48, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He worked many jobs, finding maintenance his passion and working at the Arctic Tern Inn until his health declined and taking care of his children was his priority. He loved to go for hikes and car rides, collecting coins and knifes, and spending quality time outdoors with his children. He loved family gatherings and spending quality time with his loved ones.
He is survived by his children, Dion Trufant, Alyssa Okpik, Joshua Okpik Jr., Tabitha Okpik, and Anton Okpik; mother of his children,Christina Picket; brothers, Billy Okpik Sr. (Melissa), Harry Okpik Jr., Eben Okpik (Aqamuk), Amaulik Okpik, Leonard Williams Jr. and Ernest Joseph; sisters, Cindy Trawick, Lucille Williams, Annie Williams (Tyree Williams-Kahakai), Loyla Leavitt and Augustine Kignak (Charlie); parents, Harry Okpik Sr. (Lucy) Doris and (Leonard) Williams; girlfriend, Sharon Barracloug; in-laws, Susie Stalker, Alan Smith and Wilson Ticket; and best friend, Chris Applebee.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Billy Neakok, Lucy Inks, Joshua Okpik Sr. and Doris Okpik; stepmother, Linda Okpik; daughter, Deanna Okpik; brothers, Raymond Williams and Thomas Williams; and niece, Adda Okpik.
The Services for Joshua D. Okpik will be held on Feb. 1, 2019, at Legacy Funeral Homes Heritage Chapel, 440 East Klatt Road in Anchorage, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. A Potluck will be held at Annie Williams' home.
