Kristin Nixon Obituary

Surrounded by family members, Kristin Lynne Dickason Nixon lost her 20-month battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme brain cancer on Aug. 31, 2017. Despite treatment with standard cancer protocols and some trial ones, there finally came a point at which her doctors decided there was nothing more they could do for her and she entered hospice just two weeks before her passing at home in Sumner, Wash.
Born on Oct. 9, 1967 in the Stanford Hospital, Palo Alto, Calif., Kristin grew up in Anchorage, Alaska, and attended Baxter Elementary and Wendler Middle Schools and graduated East High School and the University of Puget Sound. She loved her family, her many friends, bicycling, triathlons, swimming with the turtles in Maui, Hawaii, selfies with mascots and tacos. Known for her smile, she was more than willing to help anyone in anyway if she possibly could.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Nixon of Sumner, Wash., and his daughter, Emily (Jon) and their two sons of Piedmont, Okla.; as well as by her parents, Gene and Carol Dickason of Anchorage; and her brother, Michael (Jeanne) Dickason of Beaverton, Ore., and their two daughters Andrea Dickason of Redmond, Wash., and Jessica Dickason of Orange, Calif. Additionally, she is survived by aunts, Nancy Rogers of Mt. Shasta, Calif., Linda (Larry) Walker of Thorndale, Texas, and Marcia (Edward) Petroni of Surprise, Ariz.; and several cousins and their families; as well as her BFFs, Lynn Grundhauser, Pamela Milner, Julia Brown and Karin Wessels; and many, many friends. The care and support from her employer Diono during this ordeal was so very much appreciated.
She was active in Calvary Community Church in Sumner, where a memorial will be held later this month. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorial contributions to the cancer organization of your choice. Her cremains will be scattered in Alaska and Maui at a later date.
