Larry E. Ellison

Larry E. Ellison, 64 of West Point, Iowa, passed away at 2:53 a.m. Sunday, December 4th at his home in West Point. He was born November 21, 1947 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of LeRoy E. and Muriel (Elliott) Ellison. On May 3, 1969 he married Betty Scharpman at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point. He is survived by his wife Betty of West Point, three sons Scott (Debbie) Ellison of West Point, Tom (Stephanie) Ellison of Macomb, Illinois, Randy (Bonnie) Ellison of West Point, seven grandchildren Savanna, Kelsey, Collin, Grant, Evan, Whitney and Matthew, mother Muriel Ellison of West Burlington, one brother Steve (Tracy) Ellison of West Burlington, mother-in-law Mildred Scharpman of West Point, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father LeRoy. Larry was a 1966 graduate of West Burlington High School. He worked as a machinist at Dresser-Rand in Burlington for 42 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, he served in the National Guard for 6 years, he was a member of the Machinist Union. Larry enjoyed fishing, boating, woodworking, vacationing in the Ozarks, family, his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home, West Point where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A parish rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:00 that evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 7th, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point with Father Dennis Hoffman as Celebrant.
