Lecon Chuitt Obituary
A visitation was held on Monday, March 8, 2010, at Witzleben Bragaw Chapel with Father John Zabinko officiating. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today in Tyonek at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, with Father Jonah Andrew officiating. Pallbearers are Mark Chuitt, Lecon Chuitt Jr., Larry Hawkins, Richard Hawkins, Robert Stephan Sr., Paul Standifer, Art Standifer, and Chris King. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Standifer Jr., Slim Stephan Sr., William McCord, and Peter Merryman.
Lecon was born on Oct. 1, 1934, in Tyonek. He graduated from Mt. Edgecumbe High School. He served in the Army and was also a village public safety officer, bartender, fisherman, and sandblaster. He was a member at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, sports card collecting, bingo, and Yahtzee.
His family wrote, "Lecon was a loving husband and father. He loved to spoil his grandkids. He loved to hunt, fish, play bingo, and Yahtzee. Lecon will be missed very much."
He is survived by his wife, Mary Chuitt; sons, Mark Chuitt of Lewiston, Ind., Lecon Chuitt Jr. and Larry Hawkins of Anchorage, Anthony Chuitt of Juneau, Calvin Nance Jr. and Richard Hawkins of Tyonek; daughters, Teresa Standifer of Anchorage and Marian King of Tyonek; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; nieces Donita Hensley, Becky Peratrovich, Deborah Poitry, and Jane Standifer-Trenton; nephew Paul Standifer; and god-daughter Michaelene Stephan.
Arrangements are with Legacy Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Witzleben Bragaw Chapel.

From a small Native Village along the shore,
With only dirt roads and one little store…
Lived a proud man we’d all know and love,

It’s comforting to know that Dads safe sound and pure…
