Lindsey Brown Obituary

Lindsey "Dale" Brown died peacefully in his sleep on Nov. 14, 2015, at home in Tok, Alaska. A Baha'i funeral was held in Tok and he was laid to rest near his grandmother, Helen Garrett. Dale was born on July 27, 1957, in Turlock, Calif. He was the son of Loretta Mae Beaver and Lee David Brown. Dale's maternal grandparents, Elzie and Helen Garrett, brought Dale and his four siblings to Alaska in December 1964. During his lifetime in Alaska, Dale lived in Fairbanks, Kotzebue, Tok and Anchorage. Prior to moving back to Tok a couple of years ago, Dale was living in Anchorage raising his granddaughter, Miracle Liggons. Dale loved helping others. When he first moved to Anchorage he attended the University of Alaska and completed his Associate of Arts degree in Rural Human Services. He helped many people through his involvement and leadership in university and community organizations. While in Anchorage, he was active in the Baha'i community and opened his home for weekly children's classes, assisted with Baha'i community activities and helped with the Anchorage Baha'i Center building maintenance. Dale was also very gifted with his hands and he enjoyed mechanics, woodworking and other crafts and gardening. Though Dale's health was not good, he often expressed that as long as he was of service to the Faith, family and community, every day was a blessing. He will be missed by family and his many friends for his dedication to the Faith, his living example of what it means to be a Baha'i, friendship, service to others and his wonderful sense of humor. Dale was preceded in death by his father, Lee Brown, who passed away in March 2011; and his cousin, Fawn Garrett, who passed away in 2015. Dale is survived by his mother, Loretta Beaver of Tok; his four siblings, David Brown of Fairbanks, Anthony Brown of Anchorage, Debi Brown of Clarkston, Wash., and Darla Brown of Kotzebue; his three daughters, Victoria Abrams and Amanda Williams of Anchorage and Sandra Simon of Fairbanks; and special granddaughters, Miracle Liggons and Shakira Simon; and numerous other grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins living in Alaska and other states.
