Marielena Sanchez Obituary

Marielena was called back to heaven on Tuesday, June 28, 2016. She lived, loved and fought for 54 years. She was a warrior against all obstacles and with faith, God as her strength, breast cancer was her last fight before returning to our Father Jesus in heaven. She lives through her husband, Ernesto; her children, Mayra, Alexander, Eduardo and Marisela; son-in-law, Marvin; daughter-in-law, DeRae; grandchildren, Zanealexander, Almalinda, Eva, Marisol and Mia; and her siblings, Jesusita, Jose, Guadalupe, Vicki, Raquel, Connie, Ernesto, Rosie, Gilbert and Monica. Her journey began in California, after leaving Mexico in 1972. She then made it to Fairbanks, Alaska, where she met her husband in 1982, and together made Soldotna, Alaska, their home. Marielena was full of life and energy; she touched everyone's spirit with her contagious laugh and unconditional love. Even in the darkest moments she had the spirit of a warrior and through her faith she found the light to her path and never hesitated to help another find theirs. Marielena enjoyed giving 20 years to her loving community: opening her heart and welcoming guests to her restaurant at Don Jose's Soldotna. She was a hard working mother that raised her children in the business world, leaving them with strong work ethic, hospitality and family values. Thank you to all for the support, love and prayers. Her new everlasting life begins with the glory of God and peace in her heart. May her flawlessness be forever expressed through our love and faith we share to others here on earth. A visitation will be held at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E Street in Anchorage, Alaska, on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. A funeral service will be the following day, Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, 3900 Wisconsin Street in Anchorage, at 11 .am. Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.

Very sorry to hear this news. What a sweet woman, her and her husband were always such nice people. I had been going to Don Jose's since I was a child, as many people in Soldotna have, and they always greeted us with kindness. My thoughts are with her family.
