Marjorie Button Obituary

Beloved Mother, Wife & Aunt Marjorie L. Button passed away peacefully May 29th in Las Vegas, Nevada after a courageous bout with cancer with her two sons at her side. As her wishes, there will be no services.

Marge was born August 1st, 1922 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Henry & Livina Grice. She had three sisters, Betty, Helen, and "Dimp", and two brothers, Merlin & Bill. Marge has two sons, Mark & Les Button of Big Lake, Alaska and one daughter that preceded her in death, Sherryl Lee Kuban whom died May 12th, 1994, and her husband Calvin J Button who passed away July 15, 1994. She has six grandchildren, Heidi, Tyrone, Jeremy, Angie, Sherryl & Brandie, and one great-grandchild Chrystian.

Marge grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska and went to Bethany Grade School and College View High School where she met her first husband Nelson Cameron Tudor.

Marge & Nelson were married on October 27th, 1942 at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. They had one daughter, Sherryl Lee. Nelson enlisted in the Marines on January 19th, 1943 and was killed in action in WW II a short time later. Nelson never met Sherryl Lee.

On November 4th, 1951 Marge married Air Force Captain Calvin J. Button in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Marge and Cal decided to try a new business venture in Alaska in 1960 and brought their family, now five strong to a small town in Alaska called Portage where they owned and operated a gas station and restaurant. They sold that business three months before the 1964 earthquake. Good thing because the whole town sunk in that earthquake.

Marjorie worked as an executive secretary for many airlines before finally settling down with Western Airlines. Marge & Cal enjoyed curling and went to many bonspiels where they met and enjoyed many people.

In the late 70's they moved out to their "weekend getaway" in Big Lake, Alaska and owned and operated Big Lake Liquor until they sold it and retired in the mid 90's. They loved Alaska, but decided the long winters were taking their toll and moved down to Las Vegas, Nevada until her death.

Marge was a class act, always taking the high road. Her family will forever remember her gracious, calm demeanor in the face of crisis. Even her last few words, "Wonderful" & "Thank you", pretty much summed up her life!

Mom---we will miss you, and we will love you forever!

Marge was a great lady - classy, witty and beautiful. I'll always remember her deep love of family and that big beautiful smile that always made you feel welcome and at ease. She is greatly missed by all that knew and loved her, and my heart goes out to Les, Mark and all of the family for your deep loss. Take comfort in knowing that she has gone Home to be with those that preceed her and rejoice in knowing she is in peace in God's arms. May God Bless you all.
