Mark Laurin Obituary

Mark Laurin lived life to the fullest and left us too soon. Born June 4, 1965, Mark died peacefully and suddenly while vacationing in his favorite destination, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. He passed away on March 25, 2017, due to complications from having had pneumonia.
Anyone who met Mark did not easily forget him. He had a swagger and style, a zest for life that endeared him to his large following of patients, family and friends.
He was a man's man. In his youth, he learned from his father to hunt, fish and explore the wilds of Alaska. He continued to share those skills with good friends into his adult life. He was a sports fan who had only recently favored the Seahawks over the Rams. Mark's priority was always his patients, followed by his dental practice. He constantly strove for high levels of quality and service as a dentist. He was deeply compassionate and highly regarded among his clients and colleagues. His appreciation for the staff working with him never went unacknowledged or unrecognized. He was thankful for the skillful support he received from staff during the early years of his practice and relied heavily on the talents of his current crew.
While he ran on his treadmill in his dedication to fitness, Mark did not listen to music or watch movies. He watched videos of dentistry and techniques on facial and plastic surgeries.
He was also woman's man - a devoted son, he spoke often with his mother, Galene, and relied on her sound business advice and decorating assistance. He enjoyed a particularly close relationship with his sister, Taree, whose daughter, Ashlann, was Mark's guide to the young world of trends, slang and social media. He was beloved by all his three sisters, and was attentive and kind to the women in his life.
Through life's trials and tribulations, Mark didn't judge and always saw the best in people. His friends sought his support and advice, which Mark always gave unselfishly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Laurin; and his stepfather, David Axelson. He is survived by his mother, Galene Axelson; his sisters, Sabrina Laurin, Taree Wood and Lisa Laurin; and his brother-in-law, Joseph Wood; as well as a host of nieces and nephews: Ashlann Wood; Savannah Wood; Rene Laurin; Jared Laurin; Trevor Hansen and Arianna Hansen. He is also survived by his stepmother, Wendy Laurin; stepsisters, Darcelle Axelson and Dorothea Axelson; his girlfriend, Sadi and her daughter, Raci. We are grateful that his passing was peaceful but he will be deeply missed and always remembered.
A visitation will take place on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Kehl's Legacy Funeral Home, 11621 Old Seward Highway in Anchorage, Alaska, from 12 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m.

It was quite a shock to find out Mark had passed. He was a wonderful person, caring and non judging. He was like a brother to me as I had no family in Alaska. I was employed by Mark in the 90´s and we became friends. We have an Angel watching over all of us forever

Mark you were a great person as well as being the best dentist I ever had, we shared many laughs through out the years, you always had a beautiful smile, kind word and it was a pleasure to know you were there if I needed you. I will never forget the morning I woke you up and how you were willing to get up on a Saturday to see me. Thank you for being my friend. I believe that you had more love in your little finger then most people have in their entire hand and I know you showed that to everyone you met. I remember how excited you were when you bought Dr. Sharps dental practice, I also remember driving all the way back from Texas to see my favorite dentist. May your family know that you were one of the greatest person and may they find peace knowing that you will remain in many hearts.

Gone Too Soon.....

We had the treasure of Marks friendship. And the pleasure of his great desire to be the best Dentist he could be. We supported Mark as his Dental Lab for 22 years down the hall and it has continued for two years from Florida. He truly was a one of a kind man with a great love for the Alaska he called home. We will miss that great smile and his undeniable zest for Life. To Galene, Taree, Sabrina and Lisa we loved him like a brother. To his 1st dental family that was there when he purchased the practice from Dr. Bob Sharp, we share in your sorrow. And to his current dental team especially Sara, he was and is so proud of the support you all gave and hopefully will continue to give to his "family" of patients.
