Mark Lewis Obituary

Mark Alan Lewis, 44, died unexpectedly at home October 15, 2013 while working in the yard. He was born in Anchorage, AK, to Carolyn and Jerry Lewis on September 4, 1969. He attended Rabbit Creek Elementary, Romig Jr. High, and graduated from West Anchorage High School in 1987. Mark married Kathleen McGann who he met in high school and the couple had two children, Joshua and Jaclyn. They moved back to Alaska in 1996, and started their own business, Northern Home Inspections in 2000. Mark was one of the most well respected home inspectors in Anchorage because of his personal integrity and analytical abilities.

Those who knew Mark would agree he never stopped working, even if he was creating or playing in his free time. He enjoyed both water and alpine skiing, and any activity that involved his many friends. After 20 years of always wanting' to earn his private pilots license and he did just that in September 2013. He spent the last two years rebuilding a Super Cub with his father Jerry, finally putting it on floats, and celebrated by flying around the state with special trips to their cabin on Nancy Lake.

Mark is survived by his wife, Kathleen McGann; son, Joshua 19; daughter Jaclyn 17; father Jerry Lewis; mother Carolyn Szymanski and husband Tom; brother Jerry and wife Staci; brother Shawn Lewis and brother Danny Lewis and wife Mari. His brothers Tom and Alan Szymanski precede him in death.

A service will be held at Abbott Loop Community Church Saturday; Oct. 26, 2013 at 4:30pm. A celebration of life following the service will be held in the atrium of the Prudential building beginning at 6:00pm, 100 Center Point Dr. Guests are encouraged to bring appetizers or desserts along with their favorite beverage. As an organ donor, Mark was able to help over 100 people in need and his final ashes will be spread at Nancy Lake. We will all miss his bear hugs, his smile, and his fun loving personality.

I hired Mark to inspect a home I was purchasing in April 2011. I immediately liked and trusted him, especially when he assured me he "would buy this home for my mother." I've thought of him often and am so sorry for your loss.
