Matthew McKinnon Obituary

McKinnon, Matthew L. (Age 24) of Capitol Heights, MD

Matthew Lewis McKinnon was born on September 7, 1992 in Washington, DC to Carla M. Hawkins and Eddie Hayes McKinnon. Matthew was observant, a deep thinker, intelligent, deeply compassionate and caring, artistic and generous. Matthew attended Henry E. Lackey High School, where he excelled academically and graduated in 2010. Matthew enjoyed mathematics, science and challenging himself academically; he amazingly studied, read for hours and memorized class books for College studies. He loved "What if" scenarios, statistics, learning new things, drawing, music, cooking good food, video games, animals (especially tigers) and spending time with his brothers.

During his childhood, Matthew played the Cello. Without receiving lessons, he was easily one of the most gifted in his class and inspired his sister to play the violin. Matthew loved music, especially techno, pop and classical. He also was very active and enjoyed being outdoors in nature. He wanted to travel the world, go to school in London, learn how to trade stocks and accumulate wealth. He was extremely passionate about following his dreams and would often speak about his plans to live in extravagant houses and own luxurious cars.

Matthew was a person that was deeply misunderstood. Although he faced many challenges in his personal life; Matthew was an extremely gifted individual. He wanted peace and happiness in life and he is now in a better place where he can be who he wants to be and live life abundantly. Matthew knows all and sees all now and if he were here, he would be amazed and shocked at how many people loved and cared for him that did not even know him. Matthew leaves behind his Mother Carla Hawkins, two brothers Larry Darnell Arrington, II and Delante McKinnon and sister Grace McKinnon as well as a host of other relatives, his close friend Patrick Davis and favorite dog Snoop.
