Michael Stephenson Obituary
William Michael Stephenson was born in Winnemucca, Nev., on March 17, 1944. Mike excelled in sports, which included a Heisman trophy from Humboldt County High School "The Buckaroos." He went to college in Reno, Nev., for four years, followed by Missoula Law School.
Mike later moved to Alaska and homesteaded in the Brooks Range. He enjoyed building log cabins and practiced law in Alaska at Jermain Dunnagan & Owens in Anchorage. He enjoyed hiking, hunting, American West History and family. Mike moved back to Richland, Ore., in 2008, to enjoy retirement.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Stephenson; and sister, Mary Jo.
Mike is survived by his son, Ambler Stephenson of Alaska; mother, Madge Stephenson of Richland, Ore.; brother, Bruce Stephenson of Alaska; and grandchild, Nava Stephenson.

I worked with Mike as a construction consultant quite a number of years ago in Anchorage. Mike struck me as a no-nonsense, straight shooter who worked hard on behalf of his clients. I always appreciated the way he kept me in the loop and allowed me to help address difficult issues. Mike was also instrumental in introducing me to my now good friend, Eric McCallum. Thanks, Mike, for being a fine lawyer and helping me make new friends. I am truly sorry to see Mike leave this mortal plane. Eric and I had hoped to visit him in Oregon one of these days. My condolences to his friends and family.
