Murlan Imoe Obituary

Murlan Roy Imoe, 66, died on Feb. 25, 2015, at his home in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., where he and wife, Karen, retired three years ago. Murlan was an incredibly hard working Christian man. His hands were always dirty, as he ran a backhoe at Enstar Natural Gas in Anchorage, Alaska, for 35 years. He was known as "Murlan the Magician" for his ability to do what no other backhoe operator could do. His family was always his highest priority. The love he had for his wife of 47 years and his children was greater than any need he had for himself. Murlan was always incredibly caring and understanding, always demonstrated unconditional love for his family and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was dedicated to providing for the needs of his family. He was a compassionate man. Murlan loved to bowl and was always in competition with his son, which carried on into the competition between their football teams (Murlan's team, the Minnesota Vikings and his son's team, the Dallas Cowboys). He could drive a motor home or any large truck better than a professional. His children loved spending time fishing and camping with him in Alaska, where they were all born and raised. Murlan is survived by his wife, Karen Law-Imoe; daughter, Lori Ellis her spouse, Troy Ellis and grandchildren, Christina and Tyler; son, Steven Imoe his spouse, Mindy Imoe and granddaughters, Alexis and Sierra with great-grandchild, Addison and one on the way; daughter, Melissa McCaw her husband, Michael McCaw and granddaughter, Kristen French and grandson, Brandon McCaw; and daughter, Nicole Powell her spouse, Daniel Powell and grandchildren, Rachael and McKayla. He is also survived by his father, Bobbie M. Imoe and his wife, Shirley. Murlan was preceded in death by his mother, Irene J. Odom-Imoe. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Today's Harvest Church, North Myrtle Beach, S.C. A guestbook is available at www.leefhandcrematory.com. Lee Funeral Home & Crematory of Little River/North Myrtle Beach is serving the family.

I was very sadden today when I read that Murlan has passed away. I worked with Murlan for many years at Enstar and he was a wonderful person. Even after he retired I continued to think of him Often. My thoughts and prayers go out to all his family and friends.

Dear Karen and family,

Mother and I want to express our sympathy to your family. We remember his bowling and how he would have a friendy rivaly with his son.

We also remember you bowling with us when we needed someone to sub for us. Thanks so much.

East 40 and Park Lanes are gone so I don't bowl anymore. Center bowl is the closest but it is on the other side of town.

Again our sympathy to you and your family.
Take care.

I am so sorry for your loss. I am Karen's cousin from Fargo and though I didn't know Murlan at all, I still feel the loss of a family member. May God preserve your love and memories of Murlan. I will keep you in my prayers. Carol

Our father may have gone home be be with the lord but he will always be with each and everyone of us someway, somehow. Heaven has gained a very special man, he was one of gods Angels during his time on earth and is now our guardian angel. My father was a very quiet gentle man who would give you the shirt off his back. He worked many long hard hours trying to provide for his loving wife and children. I will always cherish our special moments and be ever so thankful for your guidance. Words can't even express how much I loved watching you and your little bucko tease each other! Thank you so very much for showing her what a father figure truely was and is! Until next time, I'll see you again one day. I love you!! Rest in Peace
Your lil red

Murlan you were a hard worker and caring man. You made sure you took care of your family. You never asked for much and didn't talk to much either. Please look down and watch over your family. They will need your strength and guidance. They are going to need your help to get through the rocky road ahead. God Bless you and your family. You be missed deeply.

I had the pleasure of working with Murlan at Enstar for many years beginning in the mid 70's. One thing missing regarding him was the fact that he was quite the accomplished welder, in addition to his other skills. Loved his smile!

I am so sorry for your loss. May the Bible verse at Job 33:25 bring the Family comfort, when soon our loved ones will be restored to a youthful vigor.
