Pamela Aki Obituary

Pamela Aki (Mount), age 53, passed away on November 27, 2019 at Mat-Su Regional Hospital. She was born in Denver, Colorado in 1966 to Kenneth Mount and Helen Mallicoat and graduated from Columbine High School in 1984. Pam was a talented musician. She played the clarinet and was a member of the Colorado Honor Band, Columbine Marching Band, and Colorado State University Marching Band. Pam attended CSU for 3 years before marrying Dale Aki in 1988. Dale and Pam have four children: Heather, Gina, Sean, and Erika. As a military wife, Pam worked as a medical professional in California, Alaska, and Oklahoma. Pam enjoyed raising her family, crafting, and jewelry making. She loved taking road trips to see her family. Pamela was an active member of the community and volunteered her time at her children's schools, church, and the local animal shelters. Pam went back to school in 2012 and earned her Associate's degree as well as a certificate in Medical Billing and Coding from Mat-Su Community College. Pam is survived by her husband and their four children, her mother and father, sister Patricia, brother Daniel, nephew Charles and niece Ashley. Celebration of Life services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 9473 E. Silver Spring Cir in Palmer, AK on December 5 at 10 AM. Flowers and cards are welcome. Pam, I didn't know you. I saw you in passing at the AF Base in Oklahoma; when our daughters were both singing in their sixth grade graduation; when I coached Gina, along with my Shannon, in their 8-and-under softball league. I certainly heard about you. I heard about what a great mom you were from Heather, when I would overhear the constant conversation between her and my Jessica and their friends. I heard about you firsthand from Gina, whom I knew a bit better than Heather, and she thought the world of her mother. What I never knew was the private pain you were going through, trying to get a diagnosis. This was because of the private pain I was going through, trying so hard to get one for myself. It's sad, and a bit ironic, how motherhood makes us so expressive and open to the friendships our children need, while closing us off about ourselves, for fear that our own suffering might, in some way, cause them pain or embarrassment. I wish we had found each other in those days when we could have been a comfort to each other. But please know that I am here if your children should ever need me now. God bless you and your family.

One day well all be together again. She just beat us home. God bless to each one of you.

My condolences, I knew Pam from when we were teenagers and she was always kind to me and everybody that I saw her interact with. Pam was one of a third joined by the hip during High School. Tricia being the other.
I feel we were inseparable.
I've known Pam since we were 10 and began 4th grade together in Ms. Higgin's class at Earl Johnson Elementary school in Golden, Colorado.
I'd moved there from IN. Not too much later I met Tricia.
We got along wonderfully. We loved each other like siblings.
Pam was such a caring person.
We were planning to reunite this next year in Chicago.
I will miss her with all my heart.
