R. Denbrock Obituary

Longtime Soldotna resident R.F. "Denny" Denbrock died after suffering a stroke Jan. 13, 2009 at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna. He was 66.
A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at Soldotna High School Auditorium. Pastor Alan Humphries will officiate. A reception will follow the service at the F.O.E. Eagles Club, 5765 Kenai Spur Highway.
Mr. Denbrock was born Jan. 31, 1942 in Chicago. He moved to Soldotna in 1953 with his family and later graduated from Kenai High School.
Mr. Denbrock was a police officer for the Soldotna Police Department from 1972-77, serving as the Chief of Police from 1975-77. He then worked for O'Neill Services at Prudhoe Bay from 1977-83 and for the same company at Kuparuk until 1985 in operations support. He then worked as a safety officer for Alaska Petroleum Contractors at Kuparuk until retiring in 2001.
"Denny's favorite pastime was telling real life stories," his family wrote. "They were comical and entertaining. He always seemed to get himself into very humorous situations and the retelling was enjoyed by everyone. He was probably the best storyteller any of us ever met. The one thing everyone will remember about Denny is he always made us laugh. His stories will be a source of enjoyment for many years to everyone."
Mr. Denbrock is survived by his wife, Colleen of Soldotna; sons and daughter-in-law, Jake and Robin Denbrock, Ross Denbrock and Cole Denbrock; daughter and son-in-law, Sissy and Patrick Dobson; grandchildren, Samantha, Mekbeb, Maleda, Andrea, Kyle, Krystal, Jessica, Cassy, Tyler and Stephanie Denbrock; sister, Diana Beaupre, all of Soldotna; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Mitzi Knight of Houston, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are with Peninsula Memorial Chapel.

My deepest sympathies to Denny's family. Denny was a special friend since the 60's, he was so funny and his humor was unmatched. There were so many times we'd actually have tears rolling down our face and have to hold our cheeks from laughing so hard. He made life a magical place, and taught me some important lessons on self-confidence, and life in general. Thank you Denny.. you are so missed.

I worked in the Materials Dept. for ARCO, when Denny was at Kuparuk. He always made me laugh. He was a kind man. My life is a little richer for having known him. May he be at peace in Gods loving arms.

With love, Mona Hansen

To the Family it is my prayer that your Faith in God will give you strength and your memories of your loved one will give you comfort. Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning. Psalm 30:5.
