Raymond Leslie Koso Sr.

1940 - 2015

On July 31, 2015, Raymond Leslie Koso Sr. finished his watch. He was loving, caring, helpful, knowledgeable, always there to give a helping hand and share his wisdom with many during his 74 years. He was also known to tell great stories and make others laugh and smile. Raymond was born on Sanak Island in the Aleutian Chain on Sept. 26, 1940, and married his beautiful wife of 54 years Helen Koso whom he loved so dearly. He was a commercial fisherman, who not only was the captain, but also worked on deck, cooked and taught many the commercial fishing trade. Raymond had a passion for cooking which was enjoyed by many family and friends. Grandpa Koso also loved to cook for his grandchildren whom he loved so much. Raymond and his wife, Helen had four children, Annie Walker, husband Patrick (Mickey) Walker, Ray Koso Jr. (Man), wife Glennora Koso, Renee Koso, and Melissa Robbins, husband Dwight Robbins. Along with seven grandchildren, Mannie, Beverly, Travis (Lil' Man), Tiffannie, Ricki, Kendra and Raythan. And six great grandchildren, Tiernan, Tymann, Tristan, Randi, Brooklyn and Reese. There will be a service in honor of Raymond Sr, on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, at the St. Innocent Russian Orthodox Cathedral, 401 Turpin Road in Anchorage, Alaska, with a visitation beginning at 1 p.m. and a service to follow at 2 p.m. He will be laid to rest at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery in downtown Anchorage at 4 p.m. Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
