FATHER ROBERT BURGER

Father Robert Burger, 92, died at Villa Saint Francis on October 29, 2015. He was born in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Julius and Mary Burger. Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at St. Joseph Church, 11311 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, Kan. Visitation will follow until 8 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at St. Joseph. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. No flowers, please, but prayers. Father was preceded in death by his siblings, Paul, Sister Julius Marie, Joseph, Charles and Father Richard. He leaves behind Sister Ann Catherine, Sister Rose Helen, Elizabeth Marie, Msgr. Raymond, Carol Morgan (Gary), Sister Joan Marie, Angela, and Father Frank. He also leaves many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces and great, great nieces and nephews. Father was a priest of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, serving for 67 years. Among his assignments were the Catholic churches in Marysville, Topeka, Kansas City, Osage City, Axtell, and Ottawa. In Johnson County he founded Holy Cross Church and was pastor at Cure of Ars, St. Pius X, and Sacred Heart. He ended his ministry as chaplain for six years at Villa Saint Francis.
