Floyd Eugene Burger, fondly called "Frosty", 89 of Reliance, TN, passed away at his home under hospice care January 13, 2026. He was born to parents Eddie and Anna Lou Burger September 27, 1936, in Fannin County, Georgia.
Floyd was a block mason by trade until, in his later years, he began making furniture and wood items for various stores in Cleveland and Athens.
However, his greatest achievement was faithfully serving the Lord for over 60 years as a minister. Floyd began his ministry by sharing the gospel as an evangelist, traveling to North Carolina, Georgia, and different areas in Tennessee. He later served as the pastor of several local churches. Floyd ministered the longest at Nonaburg House of Prayer in Englewood. Before his passing, he attended New Beginnings Church in Cleveland and Calvary Church of God, Reliance. Floyd would often share his testimony in song by singing, "Holding on to Jesus". He leaves behind a legacy of compassion and love for the people he knew.
When Floyd wasn't reading his Bible or preparing a sermon, he could be found in his woodshop. For several years, he made primitive wood furniture for the Grey Barn in Cleveland, under the name Mountain Woodsman. In addition, he often sold his handicraft items at local craft events.
Floyd became the husband of Shirley Rose Lowe on June 9, 1956. Together, they raised four children. Dale Burger, Rick Burger, Roxanne Gassaway, and Tim Burger.
Floyd is survived by Dale Burger, Rick Burger (Tammy), Roxanne Gassaway (Lester), Tim Burger, and stepson Terry Satterfield (Esther); grandchildren, Jeremy Burger (Michelle), Shauna Burger, who also served as a caretaker during the last few months of Floyd's life, Paul Guinn (Courtney), Tiffany Widdis ( Seth), Kaitlyn Burger, Hannah Burger, Kim Powell ( Larry), Kelly Bayne (Shaun ), along with numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. Floyd also left behind brother, Norris Burger (Billie), and sister, Kathrine Fowler (Jerrell).
Floyd was preceded in death by his dearly loved wife Shirley, his parents Eddie Burger and Anna Lou Craig Burger, sisters Wanda "Christine" Fowler, Faye Burger, and brother Jerry.
A private graveside funeral will be held at a later date.
