Richard Alvin Paul, age 68 passed away on February 9 , 2026. A longtime resident of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Richard lived life on his own terms and left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Richard was born on December 20, 1957. He was a retired truck driver who later dedicated the past 10 years of his working life to Volkswagen. He took pride in his work and the road he traveled-both literally and figuratively. He had a deep love for motorcycles and the thrill of drag racing. In his younger years, Richard loved to party and was known to light up a room with his smooth dance moves. One of his most memorable gifts was storytelling - he had a way of spinning tales that would leave you laughing, leaning in closer, and sometimes wondering just how much of it was true. That was part of his charm. Above all, Richard will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality and the memories he created with family and friends. He loved his family dearly, especially his children and grandchildren, who meant the world to him.
He is lovingly survived by his daughter, Ciera Paul, and son-in-law, Heath Engel; his son, Christopher Painter, and daughter-in-law, Jessica Painter; and his cherished grandchildren, Jaden, Kase, and Layla.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Paul, and his sister, Brenda White, both of whom he loved dearly.
Richard's presence will be deeply missed, but the stories, laughter, and moments he gave to those who loved him will live on forever.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM in the original chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2415 Georgetown Road in Cleveland, TN.
