Joyce Guffey McCann Schneitman, born May 29, 1940 in Cleveland, Tennessee, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her family on February 23, 2026. She was 85 years old. A lifelong resident of Cleveland, Joyce was a cherished member of her community. She attended Blue Springs Elementary and Bradley High School. She retired from Life Bridges, where her compassion touched many lives.
Joyce was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose love and strength were a guiding light for her family. Throughout her life, she faced challenges with remarkable resilience and grace, never allowing hardships to diminish her kind and loving spirit. She treasured spending time with her family, enjoying simple pleasures such as shopping, antique hunting, sightseeing, road trips, festivals, bird watching, and gardening. Her love for flowers and dining out brought her joy, and Christmas was her favorite holiday. Joyce also had a sweet spot for ice cream and loved her pet cat Sassy.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenny Schneitman; her son, William Donald McCann Jr.; her parents, Jesse Willard Guffey and Florence Hayes Guffey; and her three brothers, Jesse (Frances), Ronnie (Sue), and Tom (Phyllis) Guffey.
Joyce leaves behind a loving family: her children Jeff McCann,Robin Phelps, Kim (Jimmy) Shields, Scott McCann, Shane (Cindy) McCann, Misty (Dooney) Forgey, and Donnie III (Amanda) McCann; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Sue Guffey, Frances Seagle, and many nieces and nephews who will carry her memory in their hearts.
We are forever grateful for the daily care she received from her daughter Misty Forgey, her son Jeff McCann and her granddaughter Amanda McMillion
The family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 4:00pm pm on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Companion Funeral & Cremation Services at the Ridge Chapel, with a celebration of life service to follow at 4:00 pm.
You are invited to share a personal memory of Joyce or your condolences with her family at her online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com.
