Sophie Graham

Lifelong Alaskan Sophia Marie Graham passed to her reward on September 6, 2013 in Anchorage, Alaska. She was 97 years old.

Sophia was born in Ruby, Alaska on October 2, 1915 to John and Emma Cristo. She was raised and schooled at the mission in Holy Cross, Alaska.

Sophia was predeceased by her twin brother, George; her two sisters, Mary Demientieff and Dorothy Alderman, who both also attained the age of 97 years; her only son, Buzz Jensen and her husband, Joseph Graham whom she married in Waterford, Ireland in October of 1974.

Sophia was a devout catholic and attended mass regularly at Holy Family Cathedral while her health permitted. Sophia was also a shareholder with CIRI.

Sophia leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law, Ilene and Wayne Stackhouse; four grandchildren, Jennifer Stackhouse, Chris and Steve Todd, and Daryl Jensen; two great-grandchildren, Corey and Amy Todd and a great-great-grandchild, Sophia Lynn Todd.

The family acknowledges with gratitude and much appreciation the wonderful care and compassion Sophia received during the past six years at Best Care Assisted Living Home in Anchorage, especially the continual kindness from Elma and Letty. Also, the thoughtful consideration and complete unyielding care from the doctors, nurses and staff at ANMC during Sophia's final days.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 13, at 2:00 p.m. at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E Street, Anchorage. A graveside service will be held at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery following the services.
