Steven Button Obituary

Long time Alaskan Captain Steve Button, 57, went to fish with Jesus on July 21, 2013 at Mat-Su Regional Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Salvation Army located at 209 W. Evergreen, Palmer on Saturday, July 27th at 2pm. Refreshments and a concert by Charlie Overby to follow.

Steve was born July 2, 1956 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to James and Regina Button. August 1980, Steve married Donna Steinkamp and together headed to Alaska where Steve started the "Elite Drywall" business. The late 80s, and decline in construction, Steve moved his family to Hawaii. Returning to Alaska, Steve brought 2 more children and a business, "Crystal Sea Charters". Steve had turned his love of fishing into a career. Steve loved fishing, hunting, the Green Bay Packers, and spending time with his family.

I am saddened at this news! It took me by surprise. Steve was a great captain and great fisherman. He brought me to the bigger fish trip after trip. He will be missed! On his boat..I was always a Packer Fan!

I was saddened with the news of Steve's death and wish to send my condolances to Donna and family. I worked with Steve in the charter fleet for years and though I have retired I will always remember our talks together and charish them. Steve was a straight shooter and said it like it was! We often spoke of our love for our Lord (Jesus Christ) and knowing His love overwhelmed our failures! Rest in peace brother.
