Steven Tabor Obituary

Longtime Alaskan Steven Mark Tabor, 46, died Oct. 13, 2007, at Providence Alaska Medical Center
of cardiac arrest after surgery at Providence Alaska Medical Center.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Muldoon Road Baptist Church. Jimmie Woods will officiate. A celebration of life will be after the service.
Steve was born July 5, 1961, in Richlands, Va., to Roger and Margaret Tabor. He grew up in a military family, which did a lot of traveling before settling in Anchorage in 1971. Steve enjoyed school and was a 1979 graduate of Bartlett High School.
Family wrote: "After winning over his neighbor and classmate, Christina Smith, they were married Nov. 25, 1988. They became the proud parents of their two adoring children. After many years in Anchorage, they moved to Eagle River in 2000.
"Steve enjoyed working and talking with the public. With his job at Checker Cab, he knew the streets of Anchorage like the back of his hand. He began working for Flowers by June 1997 and couldn't have been happier.
"Steve loved being a family man and enjoyed spending quality time with his family. He cherished their vacations to Hawaii. Steve enjoyed watching drag racing, listening to music and watching football, especially his favorite team, the San Fransisco 49ers. Steve was a huge KISS and Led Zeppelin fan. He expressed his love for Led Zeppelin, the 49ers and Hawaii with colorful tattoos.
"Steve's humor and beaming smile will forever be remembered. Those who knew Steve for years or only briefly were touched by his kindness and warmth. Steve's biggest accomplishment was being a wonderful husband and proud parent. He often reminisced with his children on growing up with his two brothers.
"His brother Paul will scatter some of Steve's ashes on the Big Island of Hawaii, where his family enjoyed vacationing and where Steve and Christina renewed their vows. No words can describe the amount of sorrow that we feel in our hearts."
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of almost 19 years, Christina; children, Steven Paul and Kimberly; father and stepmother, Roger and Virgina Tabor of Palmer; mother-in-law, Mary Sheckells of Anchorage; brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Cheri Tabor of Anchorage; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Kim Tabor of Anchorage; half sister, Bonnie Tabor; sister-in-law and husband, Mary and Robert Parrish of Wasilla; brother-in-law, Robert Noah Smith of Anchorage; sister-in-law, Tammy Clare of Port Orchard, Wash.; many nieces and nephews; his cats, Maui, Kona and Tippy; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Tabor.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to 1st National Bank of Anchorage, account# 20600342.

Chris,

We both know that there really are no words that can express how very sorry I was to hear of your loss. Many times when I would call, you would be out and Steve would answer the phone and we would actually sit and talk for awhile, it was like I had not only another sister but a brother-in-law too and I had become quite fond of him over the years. I will miss his voice.

Chris
Remember our prayers are with you during this time of loss. Just remember we share your grief and are here for you. I hope the following poem will bring you some comfort.

It's hard to see tomorrow when someone you love is gone
It's harder still to realize that your life will still go on
The Lord won't give you burdens he knows you cannot bear
He will not leave you comfortless you'll always find Him there
We're all our Father's children on earth and up above
Your loved one's walking close to God surrounded by His love.

Remember, Steve has a lot of good company up there with him.
