Sven Eriksson

1924 - 2018

Sven passed away peacefully on May 8, 2018, with family by his side. He was a resident at the Anchorage Pioneer Home. Sven was born on a farm in Varmland, Sweden. After obtaining an electrical engineering degree, he immigrated to California in 1948, where he met his future wife Lorraine, and moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1951. He and Lorraine married in 1953. He was employed as an Electrical Engineer at Post Engineers Fort Richardson until 1974, when he retired to operate full-time, with Lorraine, Ed's Electric Inc., a company they co-founded in 1954, with Ed and Esther Erickson.
Sven and Lorraine obtained their pilots licenses and soon after bought their first airplane, a 75 HP Piper J3, in 1954. They enjoyed hunting, fishing and flying throughout Alaska. Sven was an active skier and Nordic competitor. He included his family in all his outdoor adventures and experiences.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; son, Kurt; daughter-in-law, Amy; grandsons, Anton and Austen of Soldotna, Alaska; and sister, Vivi-Anne Eriksson of Torsby, Sweden. His son, Chris, preceded him in death in 1990.
