Terence Fetherolf Obituary

Longtime Alaskan, husband, father and "Pappy," Terence "Terry" L. Fetherolf, died March 15, 2010, in Anchorage, surrounded by loved ones.

A service will be at noon Friday at Kehl's Forest Lawn Chapel, 11621 Old Seward Highway.

Born Feb. 29, 1948, and raised in New Tripoli, Pa., Terry was the eldest of five born to Donald John Fetherolf and Grace Eva (Nagle) Fetherolf, who both preceded him in death. His siblings are Jan, Donald, Daniel and Steve.

Terry served proudly in Vietnam, where he met his love, Judith, while on rest and recuperation in Sydney, Australia.

After graduating from Penn State with a degree in civil engineering, Terry moved to Eagle River with his beautiful wife and eldest daughter, Teri, to work on Alyeska Pipeline projects in the late 1970s. As a project manager, Terry worked on many construction projects around Alaska -- Mukluk Island, Dutch Harbor, Red Dog and points in between.

Most recently, Terry worked for West Construction with people he deeply respected and cared about. He is survived by his loving wife, Judith; proud daughters, Teri and Jacqui; and the two apples of their Pappy's eye, his grandsons, Rhys and Liam; all of whom he loved very much.

He was a wonderful, loving father who supported his daughters and was always very proud of them. He was also a very proud big brother.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. While he may have been quiet, he had quite the sense of humor and always made everyone smile at the annual "flambe" barbecues.

He is loved and missed by all.

To the Fetherolf family- Sorry for the loss of your loved one. As time goes by we really don't get to see family like we should. When times like this come around it is hard to realize how much fun and enjoyment we had of each other as we grew up. I am sure he will be deeply missed. My sincere sympathy. Love

To the Fetherolf family -

I am deeply sorry for your loss. I enjoyed working for Terry when he was at West Construction. No matter how bad things got, he still maintained a positive attitude that we could develop a solution. I will miss him.

Sincerely,

Michael Travis

I want to offer my deepest sympathy to Terry's family. I graduated with Terry from Northwestern High School, and have a lot of memories of those long ago days. He always did have a quiet sense of humor. I remember one day when we were seniors, the teacher was asking eash of us how old we were as of that day. All of us said we were either 17 or 18 and Terry said (with a very straight face) that he was 4 years old. The whole class started laughing when he said he was born on leap year. We had a great class, and I cherish all the memories I have of each and every fellow classmate. They will stay in my heart forever. Terry was a really nice young man and I know he was a great husband and father. Never forget that he will always be close to you, when you feel the wind tossle your hair, or the soft song of a bird in spring or when a snowflake kisses your cheek in winter-- he's there with you. My thoughts and prays are with you all.

To the Fetherolf family, Sorry to hear of your loss. I know you have many memories that will help you get through this time. With the help of God, this time of deep sorrow will pass swiftly. Bub still remembers the good times of playing football together on the first team NHS had.

Judith,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and girls during this very sad time. As you know I had the pleasure of working with Terry in Glennallen and he was a great guy and boss! Even after he left the area; he was always willing to help with general project questions when I called to bug him. He will be missed!

Please accept our deepest sympathies! Terry was a great cousin and one I had so much respect for. It is sad that distance and time have prevented our chances to connect over the years. I know he will be deeply missed.

Please accept my deepest sympathies on the passing of my former alternate from the north slope. Terry was a great alternate and always had my back. While I haven't seen Terry in many years, I know he will be deeply missed.
