Wesley Carr

Mr. Wesley Ewing Carr Jr. passed away peacefully on July 23rd, 2012. Wesley, 90 years old, was a resident at Prestige Care.

Wesley was born in Fitzhugh, Oklahoma on February 25, 1922. Mr. Wesley Carr was inducted into the United States Army November 16, 1942, and was honorably discharged on January 23, 1946.

Wesley was also in the Enlisted Reserve Corp, January 23, 1946. He was 23 years old. There must be something about the number 23, probably his lucky number. Honorably Discharged; January 23rd, Enlisted Reserve Corp; January 23rd, 23 years old and passed in to the arms of our Lord on July 23rd, 2012.

Wes was a very talented fiddle player. He played with some of the Big Bands of his era. Wes played his fiddle with multiple musicians here in Alaska. Wes would take his fiddle with him, hoping to play with 2 friends who also played fiddle, Troy Prather and Keith Junot. They were three of a kind.

Wes was also an excellent dancer, especially his polka and waltzes. He was noted for his love of Bob Wills's music, his love of life and his compassion for all that knew him. He never met a stranger. Wes was a very proud man, especially of his service for his country and his time with his friends. Wes will always be in our hearts.

Wesley is survived by a sister and her husband, Elizabeth and Ronald Gee of Anaheim, California; brother, George Carr and many nephews and nieces, all in California and Oklahoma. Wes also leaves behind his extended family and friends in Anchorage, especially Keith Junot, Troy Prather, Case Krieger and Wanda Injasoulian, who took care of Wes up to the end.

Services will be held in Sulpher, Oklahoma with military honors. There will be a Celebration of Life and potluck for Wes on Sunday, August 19th, 2 p.m. at VFW Post 1685, 1200 W. 33rd Avenue.
