Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lewis Funeral Home - San Antonio on Mar. 18, 2026.
Sylvia Bernadette Carr was born on January 1, 1958, in Kansas City, Kansas, to the late Clark B. Jackson and Kay M. Jackson. She peacefully departed this life on March 16, 2026. Sylvia made her home in San Antonio, Texas, where she was surrounded by family, friends, and a community she faithfully served.

Sylvia was known for her loving heart and feisty spirit, bringing warmth, honesty and a lasting impression to everyone she encountered.

Sylvia attended Fox Tech High School in San Antonio, Texas, and remained deeply rooted in the San Antonio community throughout her life.

Sylvia dedicated her life to caring for others, most recently as a Psychiatric Technician at JBSA Fort Sam Houston and earlier at San Antonio State Hospital, providing compassionate care and support to those in need.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grant A. Carr, and her sister, Helen Y. Govan.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Eugene B. King, Twanna A. James (Edmon D. James), and Isaiah A. Carr.

She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her grandchildren: Tasia Walton (Garrett Walton), Quiana James, Zhanesia James, Annanesya James, and Landon James, and her great-grandchildren: Gavin Walton, Grant Walton, and Zovani James.

She is also survived by her loving sisters Ramona Webb (Joe Webb) and Carolyn Hopkins (Elston Hopkins), along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Her legacy lives on through the family she loved, the lives she touched through her compassion, and the strength and spirit she carried throughout her life.
