News Death Notice
TATE, William Richard 65, Departed this life on Saturday December 10, 2011 at the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus Ohio. He was born on March 18, 1946 in Springfield, Ohio to James M. Sr. and Olivia B. Tate. William was a Veteran where he served in the United States Army. He was employed with Ernst Concrete in Springfield and Fairborn Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, devoted companion friend Juahila Tate, three brothers: Orville Mason; Rev James M. Tate Jr; and Charles Tate; one Sister Beatrice Hill; 1 step grandson and 1 step granddaughter. Survivors include: Daughter - Dawn (Jimmy) Ferryman. Step children Debbie Strodes, Leslie (Sherry) Strodes and Stacy Strodes. One Grandson Jaeshaun Ferryman, 5 step granddaughters, 3 step grandsons and 7 step great grandchildren two brother Rev. P. Robert (Geraldine) Tate; John Tate; one sister Sheila Kearney a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and friends. Service for William Richard Tate will be held Wednesday December 14, 2011 at El Bethel 2049 Clifton Ave. Springfield, Ohio. Visitation will be at11:00 am until time of service which will be at 1:00pm with family present at 12 noon with Pastor Brain Brim officiating. Interment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery Springfield, Ohio. Arrangements entrusted to Porter-Qualls Funeral Home.

I will miss my Tater-bugg!!! My deepest sympathy to your entire family. Tate was a kind soul and always had a smile on his face. He accepted everyone for who they were and liked to make jokes about the Bengals. He will live forever in my heart. I'm blessed and so glad I got to know such a wonderful man. William Tate was a good man, who walked into our lives and touched our very souls, with that smile, that laugh, and that hat... At times one can not find the words to express what the heart feels...This is one of those times Taterman... one of those times. It was just about a year ago I was kissing and saying goodbye to my beloved mother(Beatrice). I would not have thought that I would have to be doing the same with you my Uncle Will this time. I wish I could have only spent more time with you over the years. I will miss your laughter, your smile, your wit and most of all those bright and debonir eyes of yours, for you are now forever one of the angels along with mom that are watching over us now and now you are reunited with Monm, Juahilia, Uncle James, Uncle Charles and celebrations are happening in heaven with you all as we speak.
