Iris May Weston, 98, of Palisade, passed into the hands of her Savior and Lord on Saturday, October 4, 2025 in Oak Hill Assisted Living, Grand Rapids. She was born September 22, 1927 in Palisade to Lloyd and Rose Carlson. She was the second of eight siblings. They were raised on a small farm near Palisade before they moved into town. She graduated from Aitkin High School on May of 1945 and attended the Chicago Evangelistic Institute and graduated on May 26, 1948 with a Kindergarten Training Certificate. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Weston on April 4, 1951 in the Methodist Church in Palisade. They made their home North of Palisade where Lawrence was employed in the Weston sawmill. They later relocated to Palisade where Lawrence was employed with Aitkin County Highway Department. They had six children. Iris' faith and family were her greatest treasure and she was a great prayer warrior praying that all her children would know the Lord. She taught Sunday School, vacation Bible School and religious release for many years. She was a member of Community Chapel and later Hilltop Chapel both in Palisade. Iris enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and would do so for anyone who stopped by the house. She made the best bread, cinnamon rolls and buns! In her later years, she would say, "I don't know what to do with these, they are awful". One of us always took them gladly. Her greatest joy was reading the Bible and spending time with family. Her grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy. She had 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed and her legacy of love and faith will live on in the lives of all who knew her.
Iris is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Lawrence; her parents; grandson, Robert DeWitt; siblings, Irene Bartz, Wallace, Charles, Arnold, Larry and Robert; daughter-in-law, Rosmary Weston, son-in-law, Kenneth Bland.
