Barney Sapp Obituary

Barney Lee Sapp passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025. Born on April 23, 1961, to James Sapp and Barbara Lord, in Gainesville, Florida. He lived a full life buoyed by his strong Faith in God.

Barney was a man of many talents, most notably as an active fisherman and a skilled upholstery worker. His love for the water was evident in the countless hours he spent fishing on Florida waterways, a hobby that not only brought him peace, but also provided cherished memories with family and friends. His expertise in upholstery was admired by many, as he transformed ordinary pieces into works of art with his meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work and kindness, as well as an unwavering love for God, his family and nature.

Barney's life was enriched by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marsha Yates Sapp (married February 14, 1987); they built a home filled with laughter, love, and warmth. He also leaves behind his beloved children, daughter Shelby Lee Sapp and son Caleb Yates Sapp. Other survivors include brothers Jimmy Sapp and Leslie Sapp, sisters Linnie Beck, Donna Wright of Trenton and Germaine Wynne of Old Town. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Mitchell Sapp and sister Audrey Wynne.

Throughout his life, Barney was known for his kind-hearted nature. Because of this, he was active at his church, Alachua Methodist, in its mission program. He was a friend to many and will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

As we remember Barney, let us celebrate the vibrant life he lived and the profound impact he had on those around him. His spirit will forever be anchored in our hearts, and his memory will continue to inspire us to live fully and love fiercely.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Alachua Methodist Church, 14805 NW 140th St, Alachua, FL, on Saturday, February 22nd, at 10:00 a.m., where family and friends can gather to remember Barney's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alachua Methodist Church for future Missions, reflecting Barney's lifelong dedication to helping others.

May Barney Sapp rest in eternal peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.

I´m stunned and saddened with the passing of a longtime, good friend. I had many ops to work with Barney on side projects and socialize with his wife Marsha and family. He had a delightful sense of humor and an infectious smile. He made those around him smile and laugh often. I will miss him greatly. Condolences sent to his immediate family and his father-in-law George Yates. The world has lost a good man but his generous nature, kindness and devotion to those around him won´t be forgotten. Rest easy good friend
