Edward Stumpf Obituary

Edward G. Stumpf

Alamogordo - Edward G. Stumpf, 89, of Alamogordo, died on June 5, 2021. Edward, known to many as Mr. Ed, was born in Appleton, Wisconsin on January 26, 1932, to Edward E. Stumpf and Grace Brantmeier.

As a child, and until he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he lived and worked on his family farm in Darboy, WI. Following his service, Ed returned home where he worked as a mechanic at a Ford dealership & service station, a paper mill and lastly delivering fuel oil for a local Standard Oil Company.

In 1987, Ed and his wife sought a warmer climate and relocated to Alamogordo, New Mexico. There he worked maintenance at St. Jude Parish and discovered a passion for cracking pecans gathered from the parish orchard. Ed's reputation as a skilled nutcracker grew and friends began requesting his talents, a pastime he relished. Sometimes he would trade his time for ½ the nuts, which afforded him the great joy of gifting pecans to those he loved, near and far. Dad was equally passionate about sports and remained a faithful fan of the Green Bay Packers & the Chicago Cubs throughout his life.

Ed leaves behind his wife, Madeleine, of nearly 60 years and children Christopher and William (Sabina) in WI, Jeanmarie & grandson Dylan in VA and Donna Marie (Tim) in NM.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at La Luz Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church with a rosary recited at 10:30 a.m. and a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment services will follow at St. Jude Parish in Alamogordo.
