Helen J. King Obituary
Helen J. King, 73, of Boles Acres, New Mexico, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven as she died peacefully at her home on June 8, 2015.
Helen was born in Carrizozo, New Mexico, on July 11, 1941, to Leandro and Narcisa Vega. While waitressing at her father's restaurant, she met the man of her dreams and on January 15,1960. Helen married the love of her life, Gordon E. King and settled in 1964 at their now home in Boles Acres, New Mexico. Helen loved her family and loved to have them all with her at the drag races. She loved to watch her husband build motors and her son perform his "John Force" burn outs with all the family there as the pit crew. She will truly be missed riding along side Gordon in the golf cart waving at all their drag racing friends.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Gordon E. King Sr., two daughters, Jan Myrick and Pat (Mark) Denney. Her son, Gordon E. King Jr. (Donna Garcia), all of Boles Acres. Six grandchildren, Tarah (Jessie)Martinez, Alyssa (Tom) Berrington, Krystal Myrick, Mark Denney Jr., and Cheyenne and Ashley King. Three great-grand children, Narcisa and Isaiah Martinez and Illyanna Berrington. And two special people she loved, Lori Paulson as a daughter and Cody Duran, as a grandson. Her sister Frances (Dave) Bohl, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and two brothers, Henry (Lucia) Vega and Robert Vega (Helen) of Carrizozo, New Mexico, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, racing families and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leandro and Narcisa Vega, her sisters, Sofia Ortiz, Ida Herrera, and Betty Lueras and her brothers Leandro Vega, Jr. and Richard Vega.
A memorial service with Pastor Sherman Countryman presiding will take place at 3 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2015, at Primera Iglesia Bautista, 1711 Ocotillo Drive, Alamogordo New Mexico.
The King family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services. Cremation will take place at PCS.
