Juanita Diaz Obituary

Juanita D. Diaz, 90, passed away Monday, June 6, 2011, in Tularosa. She was born Feb. 26, 1921, in Tularosa to Manuel and Dolores (Duran) Dominguez.
She was a descendant of the original Tularosa settlers. She was involved in the New Mexico Senior Olympics and was a member of the Sacred Heart League at St. Francis.
Survivors include her sons, Joe Dominguez and his wife, Veronica, of El Paso, and Manuel Dominguez and his wife, Louise, of Tularosa; daughters Frances A. Hudson and her husband, Lloyd, of Emporia, Kan., and Carmen Embry and her husband, Billy, of Coweta, Okla.; stepchildren Katy, Esther, Bobby, Luz Jr., Martha, Frankie and James; 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Luz Diaz; son Henry Diaz; parents Manuel and Dolores Dominguez; brother José M. Dominguez; and sisters Mercedes D. Rocha and Adela D. Pino.
The rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2011, at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in Tularosa by Mr. and Mrs. Chavez.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2011, at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church with Father Max Hottle, O.F.M., as celebrant.
Pallbearers include Christy Patrick, Michelle Paz, Moya Furby, Miranda Diaz, Danny Paz, III, Michael Dominguez, Brandon Dominguez and Randall Edwards.
Honorary pallbearers are Louis Pino, David Richardson, Marcelino Hendrickson, Alvino Flores, Frances Flores and Cruz Dominguez.
Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
The family will greet friends at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2011, at the church before the rosary.
