Margaret Paz Obituary

Margaret Davalos Paz passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, due to complications associated to congestive heart failure.

Margaret was born on March 18, 1920, in Mescalero. She was the daughter of Augustine and Magadaline Little Davalos.
Margaret was raised on the Davalos ranch in Nogal. When her mother Magdaline passed away in 1934, Margaret took over the task of helping her father raise her eight siblings.
She married Simon Paz in 1946. The couple had six children before moving to the state of Washington in 1966. Simon was employed at what was then called Fort Lewis Army Base, and Margaret was able to go into nursing as she had always wanted to do.
She obtained her LPN license and worked at American Lake Veterans Hospital until she retired. After the couple both retired, they became snow birds, living in Yuma during the winter and enjoying the warm weather.
Margaret joined the Catholic church group and made quilts for the poor. She enjoyed arts and crafts.

She was preceded in death by husband Simon; son Frank; grandson Jamie DittBenner; brothers Mike Davalos, Gilbert Davalos, and sisters Rosalie Nelson, Anita Acuna.

Survivors include, Bennie Paz (Binah); Carol DittBenner (Kenneth); Cecilia, Henrietta, Linda, 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grand children, and three great-great-grandchildren. Other survivors are Margaret's brothers Dave Davalos, Isidro Davalos (Elfida); sisters Maria Depris (Joseph) and Helen Davalos.

A recital of the Rosary will be held at St. Joseph Apache Mission on Sunday, Dec. 28 at 6 p.m. A mass and funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Apache Mission Monday, Dec. 29 at 9:30 a.m.
Interment will be at the family cemetery. A dinner will follow in the Parish Hall.

In place of flowers, please send donations to St. Joseph Apache Mission, P.O.Box 187, Mescalero, NM 88340 in the names of Simon and Margaret Paz.

Linda, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family but we know the Lord has a special place at His table for your mom now in this holy season. We know this is her beginning but we who are left behind are the ones that are sorrowful. When we lived there in Roy I knew her as one of the sweetest people in the world.Blessings.
