Mary Hainline Obituary


Mary Elisabeth Vonnegut Hainline, 54, died in Pearland, Texas, on June 8, 2014, from cancer.

She was born at Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, Ill., June 25, 1959, to Franklin F. and Margaret K. Vonnegut. She graduated from Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii, and the University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore.
She married Charles Hainline June 15, 1986, in Albany, Ore. They traveled as Charlie's Air Force career dictated, living in Oklahoma, South Korea, Louisiana, Florida and New Mexico. They recently moved to Pearland, Texas.
Mary was especially interested in cooking and reading. She belonged to an officers' wives club and the PTA and took an active interest in the children's school activities.

Mary is survived by her husband, Charles Hainline, and their children, Thomas of Luke Air Force Base, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Allison and Kelly of Nashville, Tenn. Also surviving are her sisters Anne (Keith) Chambers, Barbara (Gordo) Vonnegut, Trish (Dan) Newman and Megan (Tony) Robles.

Her parents and brothers Thomas Vonnegut and John Vonnegut preceded her in death.

A memorial service and interment are planned for July 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, 2172 Puowaina Drive, Honolulu, HI 96813.

Mary Hainline is one of those few parents that I will always fondly remember. Thomas and Allison were students that I remember at Holloman Middle School. I am so sorry for your loss. Mary had a very positive impact on my life. Thank you Mary, for being the kind of mom that you were.
